Sambhar masala can be prepared easily at home and you can store it in airtight container for two months. Sambhar is a speciality of South India and one of my favourite lentil soup. It definitely tastes much much better with homemade sambhar masala or powder. Let’s see how to make it.
Oil 2 tsp
Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Black pepper 1/2 tsp
Fenugreek seeds 1/4 tsp
Coriander seeds 1.5 Tbsp
Chana dal 1 Tbsp (bengal gram lentils)
Dry red chilli 4-5
Curry leaves 10-11
Dry coconut powder 1 Tbsp (optional)
- Heat oil in a fry pan.
- Crackle mustard seed.
- Then add everything one by one on very low flame.
- Saute them for 2-3 minutes. (Don’t burn them.)
- let it cool.
- Homemade sambhar masala or powder is ready!!
Notes : You can make it in big batch and store in air tight container for 1-2 months.
A note from Author :
The food which is available outside can not be as hygienic and safe as you can prepare it at home with love for your kids and family but at the same time the truth is that cooking becomes very tiring when you do it daily. So as much as I love to cook food myself for my family, I like to keep the recipe very short and simple yet the taste is amazing. This saves my time and gives me satisfaction too. Here I am sharing my recipes with you. Please try them out and let me know. Don’t forget to rate the recipe below. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
Happy cooking!! 🙂
