Steps to make modak :

  1. Make small round balls from the dough.
  2. Roll the balls a little and shape them using your hands and put 1 tsp coconut stuffing in it. (apply little water on your hands while you shape them)
  3. It is best to use modak moulds to shape them.
  4. Now put some water in a microwave safe glass dish/plate. **
  5. Put a net on the plate and place modaks on it (just like you do in a steamer.)
  6. Microwave on high for 5 minutes.
  7. Modak are ready!!

Notes:

  1. Microwave settings differ from company to company so after trying the recipe for the first time you will know the best settings for your microwave.
  2. ** To get the best results try making modak using steamer instead of microwave. At step 4 transfer the modak into steamer and steam them for 15-20 minutes on medium-high flame.

A note from Author :

The food which is available outside can not be as hygienic and safe as you can prepare it at home with love for your kids and family but at the same time the truth is that cooking becomes very tiring when you do it daily. So as much as I love to cook food myself for my family, I like to keep the recipe very short and simple yet the taste is amazing. This saves my time and gives me satisfaction too. Here I am sharing my recipes with you. Please try them out and let me know. Don’t forget to rate the recipe below. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Happy cooking!! 🙂
