Moong dal halwa

Moong dal halwa is made with yellow moong dal which is skinned and split green gram lentil. It is very tasty dessert but requires a lot of hard work. So let’s make it in microwave to make it quick and easy yet tasty 😉

Ingredients :

Yellow moong dal          1 cup

Ghee (clarified butter)    1 cup

Milk                              3 cups

Sugar                           1.5 cups

Saffron                         7-8 strands

Cardamom powder        ¼ tsp

Dry fruits of your choice

Method :

  1. Wash and soak daal for 3-4 hours.
  2. Drain water and grind it using very less water.
  3. Mix grinded dal and ghee.
  4. Microwave on medium-high for 8 minutes. (keep stirring after every 2 minutes)
  5. It should become crumbly.
  6. When it turns little red, add milk.
  7. Microwave on high for 5 minutes.
  8. Add sugar, saffron, cardamom and dry fruits.
  9. Microwave on high for 5 minutes.
  10. Let it stand for 5 minutes before serving.
  11. Enjoy moong dal halwa !!
